Pah-sghetti.
The other night Brian and I decided to give Malachi some spaghetti. We have given it to him before, but that was before he really ate like a T-Rex. So after a couple (and by couple I literally mean 2) he decided he was not down with it. He then proceeded to gag with every bite. I think it was the texture really, but I wasn't really in the mood to puree spaghetti so he choked down a few more bites and then was DONE. We tried giving it to him in all different forms, chopped, shredded, straight up, etc but to no avail, he did NOT enjoy it. To be honest he didn't really enjoy making a mess with it. He is much to analytical for his own good :) Brian and I, however, enjoyed watching him try to figure out exactly what we were shoving down his throat. It was a good ole time. Love this kid.

Rebellion.
Okay on a typical day Malachi will wake up in the morning around 6:30, go down for a nice long 3 hour nap around 8:30-9:00 and then will go back down for a 2 hour nap around 2:00 before hitting the hay for the night around 7:30. This schedule has been working for us for a couple months now and I rely on it just as much as he does. Well yesterday we had to take an adventure after lunch, in which he refused to sleep in the car. Thankfully he was not cranky, but I tried to get him to go down for a short little nap around 4:00 in attempt to try and avoid and overtired baby when it was time for bed. Well...THIS DID NOT WORK. He wanted nothing to do with the 4:00 nap and by the time 7:30 rolled around he was as hyper as can be AND did not want anything to do with bedtime. Soooooo he had been up since 11:30, had not slept AT ALL and still refused to sleep. Shoot, I'm tired at 7:30!!! Mind you, the Celtics game was on so I was really hoping he would just be too tired to stand it and just pass out like any normal day, but NO of course he didn't. We put him down a little before 7:30 and 5 minutes later he was crying. The crying slowly turned into harder crying and after about 30 minutes we got him out and let him play for a little bit longer. Sometimes if we get him out for 20 minutes or so and then put him back down, that 20 minutes was just enough to make him realize he was tired so he falls right to sleep. Well, that was obviously NOT the case last night. He cried for another 15 minutes and though I really wanted to get him out Brian held strong for both of us and eventually he fell asleep. It's just so hard because honestly, the kid does not cry unless something is really bothering him (and apparently when he's overtired) so I just want to rush right in and tend to him. Thankfully Brian refused to let me get him because about 3 minutes after the 15 minute cry session he passed right out. I went in and checked on him later and he was OUT OUT, but apparently he was too tired to lay down because the poor kid fell asleep sitting up. I really never thought I'd see that from him, but alas, we did.

Grampie Time.
This weekend my dad flew in from overseas for my sister Allison's graduation...and then he took a little detour to the good ole state of Missouri to visit us. AND by "us" I really mean Malachi :) Unfortunately after being up for somewhere around 60 hours straight, his flight in NY was canceled, then he had to fly from NY to NJ so he could come to MO 7 hours later than his original flight was supposed to get in. Needless to say, he was tired, but that didn't stop him from getting Kai all hyper when we got back from the airport at close to 10p. Thankfully the kid slept, but boy did he put up a little fight (stinker)!! Anyway, we had a nice little visit - did some shopping, did some lounging and took plenty of photos! Since my dad is currently overseas for work he went ahead and got him part of his birthday present...a little pool for our deck and a nice little basketball hoop so he can improve on his SKILLS :) We had a good weekend though and a very nice visit. I love when family/friends visit - it's sometimes a little tiring, but always worth it!

The Good. The Bad. The Ugly.
I will be the first to admit that I have the cutest kid on the face of the planet. I will also be the first to admit that my opinion is 'somewhat' biased, but as long as I know that and you all know that, then we can all just move along our merry ways. As some of you know I literally have taken about a million pictures of Malachi - some good, some bad and some, well, they are just horrific. Just like we all have good pictures of ourselves, we know that there are many out there that we hope no one in their right mind would share, and if they did, they would suffer severely (yes, this is a threat). So without further ado, I present to you some of the "bad" pictures of Malachi.

While there are SO many others, these are just a few of the most recent ones...scary stuff.

Monkeys Belong in the Zoo.
Amen for long weekends. Malachi and I just LOVE when Brian gets to stay home an extra day! Not that it happens too often, but when it does, BOY do we feel spoiled!! We had a nice relaxing morning, which Kai took a nice long 3 hour nap (amen) and then we decided to hit up the Kansas City Zoo. It was a last minute idea, but we wanted to get out and enjoy the extremely nice Memorial Day so we packed up and headed out.
Kai was absolutely PERFECT. To start, he fell asleep on the way there, pooped BEFORE we got into the zoo (may not sound like a big deal, but it is!) and then just enjoyed the ride. I was surprised because it was pretty hot yesterday and I thought for sure that it would make him one fussy little boy, but nope, he was rockin' it. We did give him his sippy cup, which he refuses to drink out of but loves to chew on, and we let him drink from our Gatorade bottle (his favorite) and occasionally splashed a little water on his head to cool him off, and with that there was not even one little peep of a whine. It was actually quite amazing. We took him out to see the "cool" things and Brian carried him on his shoulders for some of the time. I was quite surprised that he didn't fall asleep in the stroller, but what can I say? He's a stud! He did fall asleep for a little bit on the way home, but was ready to hit the ground running (or crawling) by the time we got home. I think it's safe to say that we wore him right out because he was OUT by the time I zipped his little sleep sac up. Gosh he is just my favorite :)
Yeah, needless to say, he was spent and we had good time :)
