And Suddenly You're 2...

Malachi,
It is so hard to believe that you are already 2 years old! Some days I wake up and expect to find that it was all a dream. An amazing, exhausting, fun-loving, wild dream. Thankfully it's not. I am so love with you, little man. You put a big smile on my face from sun up to sun down. Of course there are times that I want to pull my hair out from saying "no" all day, chasing you around convincing you to let me change your diaper, trying to get you dressed, and attempting to get you to eat something...anything! But at the end of the day, even the very long days, shortly after you go to bed I have the sudden urge to wake you up so we can play again - you make me laugh, you make me cry and you make me want to crawl into bed by 8p...and some mornings you make me want to stay in bed just a littttle bit longer ;o) But boy oh boy buddy, Daddy and I sure do love you!

Over the past year your little personality is really starting to POP! You are so much like me, and soooo much like your Daddy. At certain times throughout the day I find myself saying, "wow he is definitely my child"...it's typically after you do something hilarious, of course :o) Just for fun, here are some things you get from me and some things you get from Daddy.

Just like Mommy:
Your facial expressions - sometimes it's like looking in the mirror!
Your silliness - you LOVE to make people laugh, just like me!
Your nose, definitely - even strangers, tell me that you have my nose! But for future reference, you shouldn't talk to strangers ;o)
Sorry buddy, but you are very strong willed, but I really think you get that from both sides.
You love love love to sing and dance - something Mommy loves to do too, even though I'm not nearly as "talented" or entertaining as you!

Just like Daddy:
Your mouth and chin - when you sleep, you and Daddy both have these offset cute, big, full lips. I love them!
Analytical - if you meet anyone new or in a new surrounding you analyze everything for a good 20 minutes before you really start to open up. You seriously sit there and watch everybody and every thing.
Feet - you and Daddy have the same feet and toes! Identical!!
Energy - seriously you are one big ball of energy! From the moment you wake up to the moment you go down. Phew, you are exhausting, but I love every minute!
Skinny minny - sorry buddy, but it's looking like you're going to struggle to gain weight/muscle just like Daddy did, but on the flip side, you are in the 75th percentile for your height.
Baby blues and long eye lashes - gorgeous!!
Long long looooong fingers.
You do NOT like when your hands are dirty or sticky...and neither does Daddy!
Your love for doggies, especially Abby and Duncan.

See buddy? You are so much like us! And there are probably a million other things that you do that are just like me and Daddy that I can't think of right now. You are definitely our child and we just love watching you grow up, even though I really would like you to stay 2 forever :o)

Big Bundle of Cuteness: (my favorites...there are a lot)
-When you get upset you say "Jelly...pwug", which is your little lamb and your plug and all you want to snuggle.
-You tell me "nigh-night" when you're ready for a nap.
-You only take a morning nap, which is great because then we can spend the rest of the afternoon out doing fun things and not having to worry about getting you back for nap time.
-If you've pooped you grab your bottom and say "pooP", really enunciating the last P.
-Whenever you hear the train you immediately stop what you're doing and say "CHOO CHOO...where it go?"
-When you see or hear a plane you point up to the sky and say "pwane pwane" and you get SUPER excited!
-Every once in awhile a fly will sneak his way in and you will stand and watch the fly bouncing off the windows trying to escape and will laugh and laugh and laugh "Bug Bug Bug Bug"
-Now, you've only worn big boy underwear a handful of times, but every time you've peed in them you've said, "uh-oh choo choo" because they are Thomas the Train undies.
-You sing and dance to everything, anywhere, any time and are truly...I mean, TRULY entertaining.
-Whenever you see something "broken" you yell, "NO NO it brake it brake!! I fix it."
-In the mornings you sprint to the fridge yelling "maulk! maulk!"
-Gogdogs are hot dogs.
-You have 2 stuffed animals that are your favorites (other than your Jelly that you sleep with of course). One is a monkey and ones is this little dog that Gramma Villa got you - you play with them both throughout the day, but when you pick them up you always say, "Hi BUUUUUUDDY" - you also lay them on pillows, cover them with a blanket and give them kisses.
-When you find your aardvark in the toybox you immediately run to me with it yelling "BARKBARK BARKBARK" until I repeat you.
-You'll repeat a word over and over and over until I repeat it so that you know I understand what you're saying.
-You are super duper fabulous with your please and thank yous - whenever you bring me something you say thank you to make sure that I repeat it.
-You say "EEEEEE" and "AHHHHH" when I brush your teeth.
-If I go to the bathroom you yell "PEEEEEE" and run in and sit on the potty with you...well on your own potty, next to mine :o)
-If you see Daddy put on deodorant in the morning you INSIST that you have some too.
-Fop fops are flip flops and so far this summer you have refused to wear anything BUT flip flops.
-When I lay you down for your nap or for bedtime, you say "bwank bwank", which is blanket.
-If we forget to pray before dinner you will fold your hands and say "pway!" and then scream "AMEN!"...but then you want to pray after every.single.bite.

Kai, you truly have brought us so much love, joy and laughter and I can't tell you enough how much we love you! Happy 2nd Birthday my little ginger - can't wait to see what this next year brings us!!

Hot Dogs?

This morning didn't start off very well. Actually it didn't end well either, but that is not the point to this story. Now on a typical morning Kai will wake up around 7:30 and immediately ask for "maulk" (milk) and then sprint to the fridge. This morning he woke up at 5:45; strike 1. Then he asked for the doggies, specifically Duncan, who was unfortunately unavailable since he left to go back to Colorado with Gramma and Papa. Sooooo strike 2. And then breakfast comes, which went something like this...oh and by the way, this is pretty much verbatim:

"Kai what would you like to eat for breakfast?"
"Ummmmm gogdog"
"Sorry buddy but we're not having hot dogs for breakfast. How about a waffle?"
"Ummmmm gogdog?"
"Pancakes?"
"Gogdog?"
"Cereal?"
"Gogdog! Gogdog! GOGDOOOOOOG!"
"Soooo you want a hot dog for breakfast?"
"Ummmmm cereal."

Seriously this kid keeps me on my toes and keeps me laughing every day. Thank goodness for laughter!!

Wowzers.

Okay I know I've moved before, but the last time we moved, well, I didn't lift a muscle. I was 9 months pregnant for crying out loud! This time, however, I am not...I'm not even pregnant so apparently, according to the "Laws of Brian" I had no excuse. And yes, I did try the, "oh no I think I have the summer flu!" Unfortunately Brian did NOT buy it. Dang. But seriously, these last few weeks have been unbelievably ridiculously horribly crazy. One of my first mistakes was definitely not packing a single thing before I left for Maine. We were in Maine for 2 weeks...came home on Monday night, which is basically Tuesday and we closed on our house THAT Friday. Am I crazy? Obviously. Thankfully my husband is amazing...and by amazing I mean amazingly patient. Do you know how hard it is to get motivated to pack your life up when you are literally moving 1/4 mile down the street? It's really hard!! Somehow, however, we packed up our whole house Thursday/Friday and moved in Saturday/Sunday...and that includes scrubbing the life out of our old place. Note to self: next time I will definitely hire a professional cleaning lady instead of trying to do it myself. We are still not completely settled, but it's already starting to feel more like home and everyone loves home...and I LOVE LOVE LOVE our new home! It's not a mansion, but it's just perfect for our little family and I couldn't be happier. Plus, you can't beat paying a mortgage of only $20 more a month than you were paying for rent and no money down. BOO-YA! Plus we have neighbors! Real life nice people neighbors. One couple even brought us cookies! WOO HOO! Friday night after we had moved a lot of our stuff over to our new place I went back and started organizing a few things. It was about 11p when I headed back to get some sleep. I had run a few boxes out to the car and was headed in for more when I hear, "LYNDSEY! LYYYYYYYYYYYYYNDSEY!" Naturally I peek my head out of our garage door and it's a bunch of my neighbors just chilling in their driveway talking. "STOP MOVING AND COME HAVE A BEER WITH US!" Ummmmmmmmm yes please! Too bad I don't really like beer, but the company was good and the people are super dooper oober nice. YAY for awesome neighbors and being a home owner!

We currently don't have internet...and there is only ONE provider here in town that is in our new development soooooooooooo the earliest they can come install it isn't until next Tuesday. Ridiculous! Oh well, it will be worth the wait. And hopefully we'll be more settled and I can post a couple pics! I've been so internet deprived that I came into Brian's office tonight to check my email and post a quick little blog. Oh...did I mention my sister in-law and her family closed on their 1st house too and only 45 minutes away. HOORAY for having family close!

Finally.

Awhile back my sister, Allison, started drawing me this picture. By "awhile back" I mean last summer. Well, a whole year later I finally have it in my possession, just in time for the new place! Just to be clear, it didn't actually take her a whole year to complete, but she was so obsessed with it, even though she had done it for me, that she "forgot" to give it to me all the previous times I was home. Her plan was to send it to me for my birthday, which was in March, but she "never got around to sending it". However, this time when I was in Maine I saw it sitting on my mom's end table, framed and ready for the taking...so that's exactly what I did: I took it. Now I'm no thief, it was mine to begin with, and my Mom was completely aware that I was, in-fact, going to steal this. So anyway, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it and am so happy with the way it came out. Glad to finally have it and just had to share!

The original picture...The framed drawing!

Maine Trip.

Gonna be honest...I could probably right a dozen different blog posts about our vacation in Maine with my family, but instead I'm just going to post a bunch of my favorite pictures, mainly (haha get it? MAINEly? I know, I'm clever...) because I'm too lazy to go into a whole lot of detail about our trip. Think of it like a picture book. There are pictures, it tells a story. Boom. Done. Enjoy.

Went up to Lubec for the 4th
On the way we stopped and played with some gooooood friends.
Good enough to smell Kai's feet :o)Put flags up on the house and in the yard.Kai got lots of shoulder rides from Grampie.Very patriotic, this one.West Quoddy Head Light. Saw some ridiculous floats at the parade...
Kai was NOT sure about this whipped cream...
Did anyone put sunscreen on this kid?
Did ridiculous things,
like jump in 50 degree ocean water...
for $100
We all jumped in and swam about 30 yardsMe and Fuzzy...I mean, Mom :o)Had fun at the beach with Grammie!Kai LOVE LOVE LOVES Abby!!

Nate was soooo good with Kai!New York style pizza before the Red Sox game with Ang
Such a good game: scored 8 runs in the 1st inning
Ended in an Ortiz fight
